Design is a parametric process. The iterations of design are influenced through subtle changes and variations. This project explores the fundamental elements and parameters of a design project; Looking specifically at context, function, and how those issues are interrelated somewhat. Furthermore, this introduces the ideas and methods of design parametrises.
The wall to be designed is in Cobblestone Park, the forefront of the school of Architecture in Wellington. Throughout the year, this light-sloped path cutting across the park is used by students. The parametric wall will follow the slope in synchrony; Wave-like gesture and changing wall height directs students towards the school in a welcoming sense while informing the site in a lively sense.
Given the parameters of wall and modular brick dimensions as well as the construction systems, grasshopper is used to breakdown and simplify the process.
To mimic the real-life physics of form and specify the boundaries of the design, the weight-strength-pressure of the wall is simulated and recorded on grasshopper.
